Offspring season 6 begins June the 29th on Network 10 Australia, with the score by Cornel Wilczek.
Starring TV Week Gold Logie winner Asher Keddie as obstetrician Nina Proudman and AACTA Award winner Kat Stewart as her sister Billie, Offspring follows Nina’s quest to manage the intensity of her job delivering babies along with the challenges of raising her daughter Zoe in the midst of the fabulously unpredictable Proudman family – all while trying to establish a decent love life for herself.
Eighteen months after the events of series five, Nina has been in a relationship with dedicated midwife Leo (Patrick Brammall), who is a colleague of hers at St Francis.
Billie, Nina’s unruly elder sister, is bold, brassy and incapable of lying. Once the wild child, Billie is now a dedicated aunt to Nina’s baby and a committed wife to Mick, whose band she’s been managing while on tour in the UK.
Youngest sibling Jimmy (Richard Davies) runs his busy Mexican taqueria while his wife Zara (Jane Harber) undertakes the gruelling challenge of studying for a medical degree.
Also starring Deborah Mailman as vivacious midwife Cherie, Lachy Hulme as idiosyncratic obstetrician Martin Clegg and introducing TJ Power as Will Bowen.
As ever, drama and romantic chaos are never far from Nina’s door. This season she must manage a whole new onslaught of mishaps and revelations, as well as unprecedented professional and personal trials that will see Nina, Billie and the Proudman clan tested as never before.
When a tragedy brings the family back together, the stability of life unravels, forcing them once again to question what they thought they knew about themselves and the past – and changing the dynamics of the family forever.
Following the Proudman family’s adventures searching for love, fulfilment and balance in the chaos of modern life, Offspring is about the life forces that drive us all: love, sex, babies, food and music. This life-affirming series provides food for the soul as it examines the curses and the blessings that come with intricate family connections.
Stylistically fresh and visually exciting, Offspring mixes conventional narrative drama with flashbacks and fantasy sequences, showcasing the vibrant world of Fitzroy, Melbourne, where Nina and the extended Proudman family go about their unpredictable daily lives.
Offspring is produced by Imogen Banks (Endemol Shine Banks) for Network Ten.
