| 26th July Galactic Jungle Experience! |
| 18 July 09 |
|
Last month's performance, with Isobel Knowles and Gus Kemp performing live, hand crafted visuals at ACMI, was one of the most enjoyable gigs in years. As it was sold out within a few hours, we've decided to to do it again. Isobel and Gus, now named the Galactic Jungle Experience, will perform with us at the Workers Club, Fitzroy, Melbourne along with incredible, Mountains in the Sky.

Mirrored trees, shadow puppets controlled by drums, flying lions... no need to bring LSD. What more could you want on a Sunday afternoon???

| Studio & Production |
| 17 Jul 09 |
|
Did you know that my studio, Electric Dreams, in South Melbourne has now been officially open for 6 months?
Besides the soundtrack work coming out of it, I've also been Producing a few albums and songs for some of my favourite Australian artists.
I produced Pivot's cover of Grizzly Bear's "Colorado" for the Warp 20 Box Set. This was the first recording in the studio. We found out very quickly how good the live room is for drums!
Following was the incredible "The Rise and Fall of Goodtown" by The Wagons. This was a lot of fun and possible my favourite album so far for 2009. Henry Wagon's was a joy to work with and I think we nailed it.
Next is Flying Scribble's new album, which is almost done and is in final mix stage. It's a great album which w're dubbing "Scribble-Funk"
I've also been working with Clare Bowditch on her new album. The single "The Start of War" was finished today. I think the album will be a nice suprise for Bowditch fans!

Wanna see me in my undies? Antuong Nguyen has done an amazing job on my new Music Video for 'Goodmorning Sun'.
It's a psychadelic, interdimensional, jogging video.. with character design by the incredible Cailan Burns, animtation by Chris Northey, special effects by Warran Wright and Gus Kemp on camera. I'm so happy with this.

Yes, I know... I haven't written anything for a while, but things have been busy. Firstly, the Ratatat tour was awesome. Thanks to everyone that came along.
Secondly, I've been busy mixing the new Flying Scribble album (which is sounding incredible) and working with Clare Bowditch in the studio on a bunch of new songs. These are happy times right now.
So, the business: Thursday 18th of June, is a special performance we are doing at ACMI, Synaesthesia. James and I are providing the music while Isobel Knowles and Gus Kemp provide live mechanical and digital visuals. We are all very excited by this.. and please come along. Following the performance will be a screening of the new video "Goodmorning Sun" - Antuong Nguyen, "Circles" - Gus Kemp and 4 movies that I have done soundtracks for by Paul Robertson. Please come early as we are starting fresh and early at 6:30!!
The following night, come down to Roxanne for the FBI fundraiser gig. I'll be DJing along with Paso Bionic, Simon Winkler, Faux Pas and Mountains in the Sky, with performances by Hot Little Hands and the Frowning Clouds.
Stay tuned for the new video....

| Waiting & Writing |
| 19-Mar-08 |
|
July is looking to be the release date of Q&A in the rest of the world. I really can't wait. A tour of the US is on the cards very soon.
While waiting patiently for Q&A to "top the charts" and receive offers to score the TR3N soundtrack, I'm fiddling around with some new stuff.
I don't often get nerdy in my limited blogging/writing space on this site, but I'm very excited about Max for Live. As I use both for writing my music, the thought of the two finally being integrated is extremely exciting. Will my life change? Will I become obselete? Will my automated Qua set produce the next 3 albums? Until then, I'm giving Plogue Bidule a serious go. It's an amazing piece of software that has just matured into a serious piece of hotness. Plogue is a major part of my live set and at the moment, it's becoming a bigger part of my writing and constructing.
OK, I better quickly lift some weights and pickup a couple of chicks - I don't wanna come across as too nerdy.

| 2 albums, lots of touring and a new studio |
| 22-Dec-08 |
|
2 albums, lots of touring and a new studio. Although it has been a very productive year for Qua...it has been utterly chellenging and tiring. My biggest project has been building a recording studio in Melbourne. If the next few weeks go well, Jan 2009 should see it's doors open to the world with first guests Pivot and The Wagons.
2009 sees Q&A released in the rest of the world and 2 new Music Videos. I've started writing new music that will probably turn into 2 projects, much like Silver Red and Q&A. The experimental album will be based on research I did during my MA last year and the other album is sounding very different indeed! I'm not saying any more!

| Silver Red |
| 14-Jul-08 |
|
My new album Silver Red is out through Someone Good Records. It has an amazing cover by Jeremy Dower and features Laurence Pike on drums.
"Silver Red" is an evolving piece of music that began in 2005. Based on a patch that allowed for heavy improvisation, it slowly took form and over the course of two years evolved into this piece.
Stay tuned for "Q&A", a little more uptempo, coming out later this year.

| 2 projects? 2 albums? |
| 14-Jul-08 |
|
It has been clear for some time that my music has pulled me in 2 directions. The "processed, semi improvised, ambient-ish stuff" and the "pop, beat-based" side of things have continuously thrown me. I've decided to keep the 2 things seperate for now and release 2 albums this year. "Silver Red", out this week, is an epic, lush improv piece while "Q&A", out later in the year, will satisfy the dancefloor a little more. For now it feels nice to keep them seperate.
