Petra Salsjö is a classically trained pianist. She studied Improvisation and completed Composition with first class Honours at University of Melbourne.

Petra was born in Sweden and relocated to Australia as a child. She writes music for a diverse mix of screen projects including short films, animations, documentaries and feature films. Her work has been recognised and awarded on several occasions both on a national and international scale.

Immersing herself in almost every area of music-making Petra is an accomplished pianist and vocalist and has collaborated on Dance/Movement Projects and Art Installations. Over the past 3 years Petra has been developing an interactive musical project called the ‘Droplets’ series. She has collaborated with some of Australia’s finest musicians and songwriters. Her first feature was nominated for Best Original Soundtrack at the 2016 Sydney Indie Film Festival. She received Best Original Score for short films ‘Miro’ and 'The Telegram Man’... which went on to receive a BAFTA LA, plus over 50 national and international awards and was screened at the Gallipoli Dawn Service from 2013 to 2019. It has now been archived by the American Academy of Motion Pictures in Hollywood.

In 2019 - 2021 Petra was invited to become a Board Member for the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) and is represented by Origin Music Publishing.
